About Us

CAM Canopies was started in October, 1990 by us, Ken and Caroline Mix.

An idea was born

Once, while at a flea market, we saw a canopy that was being sold by a vendor.  We looked at it, and agreed, we could build a canopy that was much better than that one.  That's when CAM Canopies was born and the work began.

Brother Ted, a mechanic, machinist, and self-proclaimed mechanical engineer, helped us develop our new product...a sun and light rain canopy that was easy to set up, easy to store, and very easy on the pocketbook.

We made a lot of changes from that first canopy that we saw.  We increased the pitch of the roof to make the canopy shed rain better while making the canopy more stable in the wind.

We added washers in the leg fixtures to increase the strength of the fixture while also giving us a better way to fasten the canopy to the ground in the wind.

It makes us proud that a lot of other canopy companies are using the same ideas in their manufacturing.  It has taken us a long time to develop this canopy and we are not going to quit trying to improve it further.  We are constantly coming up with new ideas to build our canopies stronger and easier to set up.  We are committed to delivering a quality product.
